The 3rd cyclone bulletin for Edilson was issued at 4 o’clock in the morning of 05.02.14. Mamade Beebeejaun, the director of the meteorological station of Vacoas said that it is very likely that later in the afternoon, at around 13:00, a cyclone warning of class 2 will be in force in Mauritius, which explains why, as a precaution, all schools have been closed down for today. Many must have been elated at the ‘good’ news this morning. Some just need an excuse to stay at home, not having to travel to school!
As for the trajectory of the cyclone, Edilson continues to make its way in a southern direction, towards us. It decelerated at night, but it could very well intensify during the day. The weather will be cloudy, and the high altitude regions will most likely have rain periodically. Winds could reach a speed of up to 100km/h. It goes without saying that outings to the beach are very much discouraged.
The next weather bulletin will be issued at 10h30 today. Meanwhile you can follow the cyclone latest information on our cyclone tracking page here.
