New regulations will be established in the tertiary education sector, as announced by the Government. The purpose of a new action plan that has been devised to formulate and execute the new regulations is to improve and smoothen the procedures entailed in the registration of academic institutions, and to offer a better service. Education is the key to acquiring an enhanced lifestyle, and no stone should be left unturned when it comes to the parameters influencing education systems.
With the new regulations, the needs of foreign students will be better taken care of, and the the registration of tertiary academic institutions will be made in a more effective manner. The Tertiary Education Commission Licensing and Control of Enrollment of Foreign Students Regulations are among the new regulations. The Tertiary Education Commission Regulations for the Registration of Private Institutions or Branches, Centres or Campuses of Overseas Institutions offering Post Secondary Education and other guidelines governing the registration of institutions will be reviewed.
The criteria evaluated for the registration of institutions, for accreditation and the quality of the program of studies and courses will be improved. The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) will also include regulations for the criteria of affiliation of institutions.
