It’s confirmed, Gtalk (Google Talk) and Google Hangout are currently down for thousands of users around the world including us, from Mauritius. The Hacker News confirmed the information minutes ago too, while several other forum posts are already cropping up about the issue.
Weird thing: It’s taking longer than usual. Just to say, even Big G can be in trouble sometime. The problem started about 1 hour ago, and has still not been fixed as we post this micro update. We’ll update this post when we have more information.
For the weirdo’z, don’t worry, you don’t need to uninstall your old (officially unsupported) Gtalk app. It’s going to be back to normal once the problem is fixed.
Update: 11:28 PM MRU Time Gtalk and Hangout are back online. Google’s official statement goes as follows: The problem with Google Talk should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.
