The distribution of tablets in schools has continued today. Last week, teachers working with form V students had received their tablets. This first distribution was made at two schools, namely Sir Abdool Raman Osman SSS and Phoenix SSS. An official ceremony was held todday at Gaëtan Raynal SSS at Quatre-Bornes, whereby tablets were given out to the students.
Distribution was also done at the Mauritius College (boys) at Curepipe. The Minister of Education, Vasant Bunwaree, is proud of the fact that Mauritius is the first country in Africa to have undertaken a project of this scale. Moreover, the project was concretised in a reasonable amount of time; the students did not have to wait for long to finally have their tablets.

The Minister has also revealed the features available on the tablets: 1500 programs and 120 educational applications, all of which are in line with the form V syllabus. Also, an extremely vast digital library is made available to them, such that they will be encouraged to glean additional information on their subjects of interest independently. The tablets have also been equipped with an antivirus.
Additionally, to the joy of the teachers, a Class Management System has been included. The teachers will be able to manage their classes from their screen.
