New courses are available at the University of Mauritius (UOM). Tailor-made for police officers. The courses have been adapted to inculcate in the police force leadership and management skills. As from today, 3 new course programs have been launched at the UOM.
Depending on the rank of the police officers, they will opt for the different courses. The three courses go as follows:
- Certificate in Leadership and Management (Operational Level)
- Certificate in Leadership and Management (Tactical Level)
- Certificate in Leadership and Management (Strategic Level)
To be eligible for the first one, the police officers must have a minimum of 15 years of service. For the second one, the officers must have at least 20 years of service, while the last one requires at least 25 years of experience in the field.
The courses have as aim to develop the knowledge of the law-enforcing officers, and to enhance their leadership, communication and management skills.
120 officers have registered for one of the 3 programs. The classes will be done at the CORE Building at Ebene.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Romeela Mohee, the demands of the world of work are in constant evolution and this is taken into consideration when formulating course programs at the UOM. The Certificate in Leadership and Management comes with distance learning opportunities so as to allow for more and more participants to enroll for the course.
