The deadline for the validity of the old National Identity Card (NIC) has been extended till the 31st of October 2014 – one more month has been given to those who have not yet registered for the new biometric one.
Initially, the due date was scheduled for the 30th of September; the old NIC would no longer have been valid after September. A communiqué was then issued by the office of the Prime Minister, today, 26th of September, to announce the date extension till the 31st of October 2014.
Members of the public who do not yet have their new NIC are required to go to the four conversion centers, situated at Port-Louis, Goodlands, Rose-Hill and Mahebourg till the end of this month.
Past the 30th of September, only the one at the Emmanuel Anquetil Building at Port-Louis and the NPF at Rose-Hill will provide for the service of registration for the biometric NIC.
