The Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) students can now sigh in relief: their one-week long examinations are finally over. They had sat for the exams last week, from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th of October. However, while what is done is done, they will have to spend part of their holidays in suspense until the results are out. The latter will be proclaimed on (or before) the 5th of December, earlier than usual.
The minister of education, Vasant Bunwaree, announced the news during a press conference today. The aim of releasing the results earlier is to provide additional time for the students participating in tests organised after the results as a way of catching up to revise. The minister stated that they have learnt from their experience of last year and thus decided to announce the results during the first week of December.
Only students having failed in one subject only will be able to opt for this option of sitting for the tests. The post-result tests under the Winter and Summer School Programs constitute a second chance for those pupils who might have passed had they scored a few more marks.
For this year, Summer School will be held on the 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 16th and the 27th of November.
