The net profits of the firm Lottotech have increased from Rs 67 million last September to Rs 134 million by the end of this September 2014. If the current trend is maintained, the net profits might reach around Rs 171 million by the end of this year, on the 31st of December, according to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lottotech, Moorghen Veeramootoo.
Mauritians generally tend to indulge in the games even more at this time of the year.
The firm has witnessed a considerable rise in the amount of money generated this year. Furthermore, much of the money has been invested in the Consolidated Fund of the government. From 2009 to 2014, Lottotech has contributed more than Rs 3 billion to the fund.
Also, more than Rs 7 billion has been distributed to the winners of the games, with 166 winning tickets which have turned people into millionaires.
The company states being proud of its achievement over the five years of its existence.
According to surveys having been carried out, Mauritians spend on average Rs 40 per week on the games, with 51 % of them being women.
