Making the Internet more accessible to Mauritians will have Mauritius Telecom review its prices. Mauritius Telecom has a new objective: bringing the Internet closer to more Mauritians. One of the major factors because of which many still do not have access to the Internet stems from financial reasons. Many Mauritian households cannot afford to subscribe to an Internet package allowing for them to surf the worldwide web. To remediate the situation, Mauritius Telecom intends to bring down the prices of certain packages by around 19 to 51 %.
These new decisions will involve competitive prices, making Orange on a similar level as its rival Emtel which has packages as from Rs 15 for 30 MB.
The prices of Orange Social and Orange Découverte will be decreased by Rs 100. The speed of the former will be doubled from 256 kbps per second to 512 Kbps, with the price going from Rs 200 to Rs 100. Orange Découverte will be shifted from Rs 349 to Rs 249, with a download speed of 512 Kbps.
However, the prices of the most-used packages will remain unchanged, like the ADSL (512Kbps, 1Mbps, 2Mbps and 4Mbps), My.T and optical fiber.
