Mauritius Government Budget: 16th March 2015

The very first budget of Alliance Lepep’s government will be presented on Monday, 16th of March 2015 – it is only a matter of two months.


The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo, made the greatly awaited announcement today, 26th of January, during a press conference: the first government budget of Alliance Lepep has been scheduled for the beginning of the third week of March. The document featuring the government’s plan for revenues and expenses for the financial year to come will be presented on the 16th of March 2015.

During an interview with RadioPLus, minister Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo has also commented on the current predicament many firms have encountered with the depreciation of the euro relative to the Mauritian rupee. He stated that he is following the situation, having recently been in discussion with the governor of the central bank, Ramesh Basant Roi. He affirmed that this downward trend has impacted negatively on companies dealing with this currency, while those working with the American dollar are at an advantage.
