Uh-oh, Play-Doh! HasbroInc., the creators of the world-famous and beloved modeling clay, geared for children, has accidentally released an accessory that does not appear to be suitable for children.
For some, the holiday season is a time filed with joy and excitement, as parents eagerly watch their children, shredding the wrapping paper off of gifts, and feverishly opening boxes. But, this year some children who received the Play-Doh Sweet Shoppe Cake Mountain Playset, gave their parents a shock, after discovering the “extruder tool”, in the playset, clearly resembles an erect penis.
In November, after the toy was first released, it gained a level of public notoriety and scandal, after the parents of the children who received the toy noticed the penis shaped mold. To amend the problem and calm shoppers, Hasbro Inc., was reported to have offered replacement “extruder tools”, that did not resemble an erect penis, to anyone who filed complaints against the product.
However, during the recent holiday season, a larger percentage of shoppers, unaware of its phallic extruder tool, began purchasing the playset, and immediately after the holiday season, Hasbro Inc and Play-Doh’s, Facebook pages exploded with posts, pictures and comments of the toy. One angry mother had even gone so far as to to claim that the penis like toy “ruined Christmas”.
The extruder tool’s purpose, was meant to be used to decorate cakes made from the Play-Doh molds that were included in the playset. Children or whoever the owner of the playset is, would then fill the shaft of the extruder tool with Play-Doh, and by applying pressure to the bottom of the tool, the Play-Doh “icing” would be pushed out of the tip of the device.
A spokeswoman for Hasbro Inc., stated in an interview with the Huffington Post:
“ (We) heard some consumer feedback about the extruder tool, (and are) in the process of updating future Play-Doh products with a different tool.”
