Finding Nandanee Soornack: Mauritian Police To Seek Assistance of Interpol

The Mauritian police is currently looking for Nandanee Soornack; they might seek the help of Interpol to locate her since she is said to have travelled to Italy last year.

Nandanee Soornack had left Mauritius last year itself, on the 11th of December, shortly after the proclamation of the results of the 2014 general elections. She was said to have travelled to Venice. Now, it has been revealed that she allegedly had had a dozen of suitcases with her.

Digging into the past of privileged Nandanee Soornack

The investigations relating to the ‘privileges’ enjoyed by Nandanee Soornack over the last few years started yesterday.

At the Parliament, many elements of the investigation were revealed. Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth (SAJ), affirmed that Nandanee Soornack had access to the VIP Lounge of the airport 71 times from the 21st of September 2008 to the 26th of November 2014: 35 times for leaving the country and 36 times upon her arrival to the country.

Interestingly, no request was previously made to the Home Affairs Division of the office of the PM, the department that manages the procedures to have access to the VIP Lounge, as asserted by SAJ. Rather, the requests were made directly to Airports of Mauritius Ltd, or to Airport Terminal Operations Ltd via the Private Office of Navin Ramgoolam.

Since the procedures were not followed according to the norm, no information exists relating to the title Nandanee Soornack used to benefit from such facilities.

Furthermore, it seems that Nandanee Soornack has travelled a lot in business class onboard Air Mauritius aircrafts, mostly to destinations like Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris and London.

Finding Nandanee Soornack

According to official sources, Nandanee Soornack got onboard Emirates flight EK704 with Dubai as destination, in the company of two other individuals. She had in her possession several suitcases. Could it be that they were filled with money as well, like those of ex-PM, Navin Ramgoolam?

CCID investigators suspect that she might have made an Rs 800 million transfer to Italy.

The authorities are therefore trying to locate her. They might eventually seek the assistance of Interpol to find her.

Roches-Noires affair

It is to be noted that her name has been mentioned several times during the interrogation of individuals involved in the Roches-Noires affair.
