The Mauritius Turf Club (MTC) will be authorised to organise 35 events with 8 races each. The events might start off on the 29th of March. The authorisation will soon be confirmed, after the Ministry of Finance and the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) will approve of it. An official letter will then be sent to the MTC today.
The horse racing season will likely be back on its rails soon enough.
Following the nomination of Raouf Gulbul at the head of the Gambling Regulatory Authority last Friday, the authorities gave the green light for the organisation of 35 events of 8 races, starting on the 29th of March.
The MTC had previously requested for 40 events of horse racing two months ago. But, the lack of a chairman had prevented the GRA from taking any decision.
On the other hand, the MTC might possibly reduce the number of stables to make do with their current finances, as commented by its president, Jeenarain Soobagrah.
