The Minister of ICT, Pravind Jugnauth, has revealed several of the projects falling under his ministry during a press conference today. Mauritius will soon be turned into a “Smart Island”, or so he promises.

2nd Cybercity: 20 000 jobs
A second cybercity will soon see the light of the day. This project constitutes great hope for the creation of employment, according to the Minister of ICT, Pravind Jugnauth. He has informed the population that the ministry is currently working on a number of strategies relating to the ICT field to enhance the quality of life of Mauritians by generating around 20 000 jobs.
Smart Mauritius: Faster Internet & More Wifi Zones
Pravind Jugnauth has many other aims: he intends to reinforce the ICT sector in the country, facilitate Internet access for Mauritians, promote innovation and make of Mauritius an ICT Hub in the African continent. Furthermore, one of the projects of the ministry has been named “The Making of a Smart Mauritius”.
Pravind Jugnauth also mentioned the goal of propelling the economy to a higher level through an “ultra high band width”.
Also, Mauritians can now look forward to faster Internet speed. Furthermore, many more regions of the island will have free wifi zones by the end of this year.
