To accommodate for the changes pertaining to the extension of the maternity leave, the Employment Rights (Amendment) Bill will be presented at the National Assembly today.

Once the law is voted, the maternity leave will be extended from 12 weeks to 14 weeks, as was announced by Alliance Lepep prior to the general elections 2014.

The spokesperson of the “Confédération des Travailleurs du Secteur Privé” (CSTP), Jane Ragoo, has commented on the decision, saying that they had been sending similar proposals to the government for many years now. Finally, the change has been made.
