Revised Point-Record Driving Licence Presented on 17th of April

The newly-formulated bill regarding the penalty points driving licence will be presented at the Council of Ministers this week.

The new, revised point-record driving licence will be presented during the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday 17th of April. The wait has been long: it was expected to have been presented more than a month ago.

The Minister of Transport and Public Infrastructure, Nando Bodha, has announced that the bill is almost ready. It will first be presented during the Cabinet meeting, and then in Parliament. Once approved, it will be implemented – this might happen by the end of this month.

The new law has undergone a number of changes, such that its presentation has been delayed.

One of the modifications made include:-

  • Only two speed limits will be applicable on the motorway: 110 km/h and 80 km/h.
  • The speed limit on other roads will be 60 km/h.
