The people of Nepal have been the victims of yet another earthquake (magnitude 7.3). The seismic activities occurred in the East of the country, near the town of Namche Bazaar, close to Mount Everest. According to the statistics revealed by the information minister of the country, 16 people have been reported to have died, with around 840 injured. The tragedy that happened today is only two weeks after over 8,000 Nepalese lost their lives in the aftermath of a 7.8 earthquake centered in the west of Nepal.

The most recent earthquake to hit Nepal killed around 30 people, with more than 1,000 injured.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.3. The epicenter was situated at 83km east of Kathmandu, in close proximity to the Chinese border. It hit at a depth of 15km.
The ground shook for around 25 seconds. The people could feel the buildings shaking. Then, they felt 6 aftershocks of magnitude 5 or higher.
The last seisms were even felt in the north of India and in Bangladesh.
The people of Kathmandu had just returned to their homes in the aftermath of the previous quake that occurred on the 25th of April. The capital was subject to severe damage two weeks ago. Now, its inhabitants have had to leave their houses again.

Rescue operations are intensifying, specially in critical areas; helicopters were sent to the north-east of Kathmandu which is thought to be affected the most.
Further landslides and avalanches are expected in mountainous areas.
