Navin Ramgoolam will be interrogated by CCID investigators. Again. This time, he will be questioned about a transaction that occurred between the Bramer House and the Ottoman Capital Ltd (OCL).
The ex-Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, will be meeting with the investigators of the CCID at ten today morning. He will be accompanied by his lawyer Yousuf Mohamed to the headquarters of the CCID.
Navin Ramgoolam will now have to provide relevant explanations as to the document he signed back on the 26th of February 2014 allowing Bramer Property Fund (BPF) to sell the two lots of the Bramer House to Ottoman Capital Ltd (OCL), which is managed by the Byzantium Trust, with principal shareholder Iqbal Mallam-Hasham.
Iqbal Mallam-Hasham had himself been summoned by the ICAC yesterday to explain the details of the purchase. But, he was nowhere to be seen.
Navin Ramgoolam had given the authorisation to the transaction under the Non-Citizens (Property Restriction) Act, foreigners having certain bonds with respect to the BPF. The ex-PM had, however, not verified that the beneficiaries of the Byzantium Trust were the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
