The leader of the PTr, Navin Ramgoolam, announced yesterday night during a press conference that the political party will not participate in the municipal elections on the 14th of June.
The PTr members had a meeting yesterday at Square Guy-Rozement, Port-Louis to decide whether or not they would go for the municipal elections. They thereafter decided not to enlist their participation. They informed the public of their decision during a press conference later during the night.
According to Navin Ramgoolam, the elections are not “free and fair”. Furthermore, the bank accounts of the party have been blocked after the coffers of Ramgoolam were previously seized.
He explained that their list of candidates was nearly ready. However, after great discussion, they deemed it better not to participate.
