Scientist Ameenah Gurib-Fakim will take the oath of office as the President of the Republic of Mauritius today 5th of June at 15h00 at the State House. She will thus become the first woman to hold the prestigious post.
Today afternoon, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim will become the 6th individual to have been elevated to the position of President of Mauritius.
The first one to hold this post was Sir Veerasamy Ringadoo, followed by Cassam Uteem, Karl Offman, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, and finally Kailash Purryag.
Now, as per the promise of Alliance Lepep, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim will become the President, after having been unanimously voted for the post in the National Assembly this week.
