Navin Ramgoolam who was summoned at the CCID headquarters today to provide clarifications concerning his involvement in the Betamax contract was put under arrest yet again.
The ex-PM, Navin Ramgoolam, had arrived at the CCID a little after 13h00 today, 23rd of June, accompanied by his lawyer. Three provisional charges were held against him.
He was confronted with documents pertaining to the Betamax affair. He was also made to respond to the different versions of the other individuals suspected to be involved. According to one such version, he had pressurised certain government officials to bring about the project.
Furthermore, after being interrogated “under warning”, he was put under arrest by the CCID officers.
