Former Indian President Abdul Kalam has been confirmed dead. The ex-President passed away after being admitted to a hospital in Shillong, Meghalaya, in India, on Monday following sudden illness.
Abdul Kalam (84) collapsed at a function organised at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya which is one of the smallest states in India, where he was a guest faculty member. The tragic event happened when he was on stage; he was supposed to deliver a lecture. He was then rushed to the ICU of Bethany hospital in the capital.
According to reports, Kalam suffered a massive cardiac arrest at the function.
