According to l’Express.mu, the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) does not plan to have the DPP arrested. Meanwhile, it is looking into the matter, and at the end of the investigation, it will submit a report to the office of the DPP who will then decide the next step to follow.
DPP Satyajit Boolell.
The ICAC had initiated an investigation concerning the firm Sun Tan Hotels PTY Ltd on the 6th of July. One of the shareholders of the firm is the wife of the DPP. Back in 2011, the company had requested for the review of its rent rate for lease relating to a piece of land at Palmar. Its request was accepted by the authorities during a meeting whereby Satyajit Boolell had represented the company.
The ICAC sent out a letter to the DPP yesterday to ask for his version of the facts. He will have to appear at the commission within a period of one week. The DPP is being regarded neither as an accused nor as a witness though.
