Thieves Stealing Rear Lights From Cars in The North of Mauritius

Several parked cars have been the “prey” of thieves at Trou-aux-Biches, and other coastal villages, this weekend. A number of cases have been reported to the police whereby thieves took away DVD players, rear-view mirrors, and even the rear lights of the vehicles.

The thefts were reported on July 18 and 19. The first one occurred in the parking lot of a hotel at Trou-aux-Biches. A German tourist claimed that a DVD player and a radio cassette player were stolen from the car he was renting. A Dutch tourist from the same hotel had the rear lights and a rear-view mirror snatched from his car which was parked at Morcellement Mascareignes.

Yet another car, belonging to an inhabitant of Amaury, that was found in the parking lot of another hotel at Trou-aux-Biches also had had its two rear-view mirrors, rear lights, and a pair of shoes found in the vehicle seized. Two other vehicles from the same region, and one car that was parked in front of a hotel at Coastal Road, Mont Choisy, also met with the same fate.
