Malaysian authorities announced that they would be sending experts to the Maldives to verify reports claiming that missing debris potentially belonging to Flight MH370 have washed up there.
Debris found on Reunion Island.
A newspaper published in the Maldives revealed images of materials that have allegedly been discovered on the islands that might be the debris that the world is currently looking for. Are these objects really connected to the MH370? Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said in a statement that it was too early to draw any such conclusion.
“We will be dispatching a team to the Maldives to view the debris as well as conduct preliminary verification of the debris,” Mr Liow said today, August 10. “Undue speculation will only stress the families and loved ones, anxiously awaiting news on this matter.”
Meanwhile, the flaperon found off the coast of Reunion Island is being examined by French authorities in Toulouse.
