The stray dogs that were captured at Forest Side SSS will be put under the charge of the NGO Save Our Strays, as per a ruling of the Supreme Court.
After the video featuring stray dogs being allegedly ill-treated by Mauritius Society for Animal Welfare (MSAW) employees, NGOs fighting for the rights of animals reacted promptly. Yesterday, August 19, the organisation Saving Our Strays was granted the permission to take the charge of the stray dog and puppies that were captured at the Forest Side SSS.
The NGO’s lawyer, Sanjeev Teeluckdharry, is reported by l’Express.mu to have said that being granted their request in court marks a victory for the association. They will call at the Mauritius Society for Animal Welfare (MSAW) today to fetch the dogs.
The video that was released days ago received much attention from Mauritians who decried the way the MSAW dealt with stray dogs.
