A 53-year-old man, Dayanand Sona, has lost his life while saving that of an injured dog at Mont-Ida. The inhabitants are appalled at the event, marking the fourth fatal road accident.
When Dayanand Sona noticed an injured dog in the middle of the road in front of his house, at Mont-Ida, he decided to go to its rescue. He gave the dog some water, and brought it to the pavement.
Unfortunately, though, as he was trying to save the dog’s life, he was hit by a car and was projected several metres away. He was immediately transported to Flacq hospital but succumbed to the injuries and died.
The dog also died in the accident.
L’Express.mu reports that witnesses of the accident are appalled at what happened. Furthermore, they affirm that the man who was arrested was not the one driving the car when the accident happened. According to them, it was a young man who was driving speedily.
The inhabitants of Mont-Ida complain that this marks the fourth fatal road accident in their locality. They claim having asked for the setting up of a speed camera on the main road so that drivers are encouraged to driver slower, but that nothing happened as yet.
