The police of environment has issued 450 fines during the month of August. 300 of these entail vehicles. This marks a steep increase when compared to July.
115 drivers were fined for defective silencers. Another 149 fines were issued because of smoke emissions while 219 other fines concerned road traffic violators.
Furthermore, smokers not abiding by the law dictating that some areas are smoking-free were also fined: 40 such cases are recorded.
The figures in general represent an increase from those of July.
The police has been receiving an increasing number of complaints: 347 in August only.
