Infotech 2015 was officially inaugurated on Wednesday night in the presence of the Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation, Étienne Sinatambou.
The event is organised by the National Computer Board (NCB). Its acting director, Vik Bhoyroo, says that they are expecting over 100,000 visitors this year.
A number of activities have been prepared for his year. Various products and services are made available to the public. The main hall will consist of these stalls, and a special shopping corner has been designed.
Among the innovations to be presented at Infotech 2015 is the Icube. Mauritius Telecom and its partner eon Reality are bringing to the spotlight a cube in which the user is surrounded by screens; equipped with special glasses, he will be able to navigate into a virtual 3D environment.
An entire stall has been turned into a call centre.
A job fair welcoming both students and job seekers is also part of the event.
More innovations are exposed to the delight of the public. For instance, video games can be found in the gaming section.
