A new secondary educational institution will be set up in Pistaches, Rodrigues, for the start of school year 2017.
The west region of Rodrigues will soon have a new college at Pistaches. The foundation stone of the college was laid days ago, on September 18, in the presence of the Chief Commissioner Serge Clair.
The Rs 88-million construction endeavour has been broken down into two phases. Spanning over an area of 4,200 m², the school will consist of around 20 classrooms, a library, specialised classes, a gym, a playground, as well as a garden.
The new school will be one of many: another college will be built at Songes, and community schools will be constructed in different regions of the island.
The regional government has identified education as one of its priorities, accounting for the imminent implementation of the construction projects.
