A tea party to be held at the University of Mauritius in November will cost over Rs 100,000, according to l’Express.mu – an amount raising eyebrows since the educational institution is currently facing several financial difficulties.
Why would a tea party cost so much? According to reports in l’Express.mu, one of the reasons is the considerable number of guests who are invited. On the other hand, the relevance of a high-cost event is being questioned, specially that employees received a letter last Friday to inform them of measures to reduce costs; for instance, they were encouraged to decrease electricity consumption and supplementary hours.
Consequently, concern over reducing costs in certain fields while others are not subject to the restrictions has been raised on campus, according to l’Express.mu.
