As per the measure announced during the budget speech, 6 m³ of water will be given out for free. Therefore, a technical team of the Central Water Authority (CWA) is finalising the project.
L’Express.mu says that the measure will be applied in two to three weeks, according to the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities.
Who are eligible to obtain the 6 m³ of water for free? Only those consuming an average of 6 m³ of water per month, or less than the amount, will not have to pay the CWA bill. As for those not falling into this category, they will have to pay their bills fully. The aim of the measure, therefore, is to encourage Mauritians to reduce their water consumption.
