The police performed a monitoring operation on the roads across the island during the week-end and yesterday, November 2, which was a public holiday. 12, 899 vehicles were thus controlled.
Thanks to the operation, 2,004 fines were issued to drivers for various traffic offences; 416 of them for speeding.
Furthermore, 58 of 96 drivers tested positive when subjected to a blood alcohol test, as per the statements of inspector Shiva Coothen from the Police Press Office to Radio Plus.
Moreover, 33 individuals were arrested for drug offences.
