The weather will remain cloudy, and torrential rain has been forecast for today’s evening.

The central plateau will have abundant rain, as per the calculations of the meteorologists.

Several regions have had lots of rain, indicate the figures recorded today:-

Region…………………………..Rainfall/ mm
Vacoas…………………………………65
Quatre-Bornes……………………..62
Mon-Bois……………………………..56
Beau-Bassin………………………….53

Firemen are ready to intervene in case of any problem caused by the weather conditions. They already performed 17 operations from 07h30 to noon today, mainly in the Plaines-Wilhems, because of blocked drain systems, and inundated yards.

Minor road accidents have also occurred, resulting in non-serious wounds among the individuals involved. Chief Inspector Ashok Matthur from the Traffic Branch says such incidents have been reported at Ebene, Flic-en-Flac, Bagatelle, and along the motorway. He also indicates that road traffic has slowed down on account of the closure of the Terre-Rouge-Verdun road today morning.

Another issue that arose because of the rainy weather entails blocked filters of the Central Water Authority. Consequently, the affected regions (Rivière-du-Poste, Mont-Blanc, and Beau-Champ) have had limited water supply.

Also, primary schools were closed today. If they will remain closed tomorrow, the Ministry of Education will issue a communiqué tomorrow morning.
