Emirates Airlines has agreed to recruit a great number of Mauritians to fill in a variety of posts, from pilots to engineers. Thus has announced the Prime Minister following discussions with Sheik Ahmed Al Maktoum, the chairman of the airline company.
A number of decisions have been made during the meeting of the PM and the chairman of Emirates Airlines. One of the agreements entails the price of Air Mauritius tickets that will increase by three times.
Also, Mauritians will be recruited as pilots, engineers, and in other posts at the airport of Dubai.
Furthermore, Mauritians going on Umrah pilgrimage will have a Rs 10,000 discount on their air tickets (from Rs 45,000 to Rs 35,000). Moreover, students, the sick, and officials of the government will have special tariffs.
Small business owners will also benefit from special prices for 260 destinations when they are travelling for the promotion of their products and services.
Passengers of Air Mauritius who are members of the Air Mauritius Kestrel Flyer will have the opportunity to use the Business Lounge Emirates. Gold Members will also have an additional luggage allocation of 16 kilos while Silver Members will have 12 kilos.
Yet another aspect of the renewed bilateral relationship between Mauritius and Dubai involves the exemption of visa for government officials. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, personally announced to SAJ that this privilege would be applicable as from December.
Emirates Airlines is also to sponsor Mauritian football. It is to be noted that it is also the sponsor of the British club Arsenal whose stadium bears the name “Emirates Stadium”.
