The Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, believes that the scourge of unemployment will be resolved soon.
In a speech he gave at the second meeting of the Joint Public-Private Sector Steering Committee at Ebene today, December 15, SAJ expressed his confidence pertaining to the improvement of the Mauritian economy, as reported by DefiMedia.info.
The committee, presided over by SAJ, brings together ministers, high-ranking officials of the government as well as the main personalities of the private sector.
SAJ explained that more than 14,000 jobs have been created. The main focus to boost the economy lies in creating employment, and investment. Back in August, he had mentioned projects of the private sector that would generate around 100,000 direct and indirect jobs in the coming five years. The PM, therefore, requested the private sector to do their best to bring forth more jobs for unemployed young Mauritians.
He also mentioned turning the island into an aviation and maritime hub together with the need to “take appropriate actions to improve air and sea connectivity”.
