A Chinese man suspected of being involved in the ATM fraud case was arrested by Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID) officers on Saturday, January 23.
A device able to capture the data of bank cards and passwords was allegedly used by fraudsters at an MCB ATM at Quatre-Bornes. According to l’Express.mu, the police was informed of a camera placed near the ATM. They suspect that hundreds of bank clients have had their confidential information thus robbed.
It appears that the criminals have operated in several regions of Mauritius.
The Chinese man who was arrested during the week-end appeared in the Bail and Remand Court yesterday, January 24. He was to return to his country today. He will not be able to leave Mauritius any time soon. He remains in detention.
