The interest rate for home loans of the Mauritius Housing Company Ltd (MHC) goes from 7.25 % to 6.3 %, as announced by the organisation’s president, Mamade Khodabaccus, during a press conference held today, January 18.
The new interest rate (6.3 %) will remain unchanged throughout the repayment period.
The aim of the measure is to help middle-class families to construct their dream house, says
Mamade Khodabaccus in a statement reported by DefiMedia.info.
The MHC is currently leading a campaign going by the name of “Le Redéploiement du Tapis Rouge” that will last for 4 months: the goal is to allow the greatest number of clients to benefit from the reviewed interest rate.
Another change that has been brought concerns the “Handling Feewaiver”. The Rs 10,000-fee that a client borrowing Rs 1 million has to pay is no more applicable as the campaign is ongoing.
Furthermore, clients will be able to benefit from technical advice provided by officers of the MHC for the construction of their house for free; but that will depend on the land area.
Also, since we are currently transitioning to a greener approach in several domains of life, emphasis will be laid on eco-friendly construction.
