The Indian Ocean Island Games will be hosted by Mauritius in three years’ time.
The decision has been revealed today during a meeting of the international board of the games — Mauritius will host the 10th edition in 2019.
The 2019 IOIG had been a controversial subject: it was initially meant to be hosted by Comoro Islands but Mauritius was then suggested as host because the board had not allegedly received the information pertaining to the infrastructure available in the Comoros. According to DefiMedia.info, the Comoros did a walk-out during the meeting today; the president of the olympic committee of the islands, Ibrahim Ben Ali, said that he was not satisfied with how the meeting went.
It is now finally clear as to whom will be hosting the 2019 games.
