Brussels Attacks: No Mauritian on Casualty List

No Mauritian features on the “casualty list” following the attacks at Brussels.

The Mauritian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a communiqué yesterday, March 22, to inform the population that no Mauritian has been injured during the attacks.

Two explosions had hit the city’s airport, resulting in at least 13 deaths and even more wounded individuals.

The Mauritian ministry remained in contact with the embassy based at Brussels to follow the situation closely. A number of Mauritians have settled down in Belgium. Many of these are in and around the vicinity of Brussels.

Brussels – Explosions

At around 08:00 hours Belgium time (noon Mauritian time) a series of explosions occurred in Brussels, notably at the Airport and the Maalbeek metro station, which is located close to the EU institutions. So far, no Mauritian nationals have been reported to be in the casualty list.
The Ministry is in contact with our Embassy in Brussels which is very closely following the situation with the police and other competent authorities in Brussels.
