The successor of Monique Ohsan-Bellepeau has been chosen: Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, who is better known as Barlen Vyapoory.
A motion was circulated in the National Assembly yesterday, March 23, for the nomination of Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory as vice-president of the Republic. It will be presented next week in Parliament, on March 29.
Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory was nominated the ambassador of Mauritius in South-Africa last November. He was also a candidate at the 2005 municipal elections under the MSM-MMM-PMSD coalition. Now, he will take the place of Monique Ohsan-Bellepeau whose mandate came to its term last November; the latter was to remain in position since then until her successor was designated.
