Reporters Without Borders: Mauritius Ranks 61th on Press Freedom List

Mauritius ranks 61st on the press freedom list of Reporters Without Borders.

Mauritius has apparently made some progress this year in terms of freedom of the press: it has gone from 68th to 61st, with a score of 27.69 (referred to as “Problematic”).

Reporters Without Borders, a France-based group commonly denoted as Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF), put together the World Press Freedom Index that classifies a group of 180 countries in terms of media independence, transparency and abuse, among other indicators.

Index 2016 has witnessed a general decline this year, according to the organisation.
