The cabinet has ruled that students of the School Certificate (SC), Higher School Certificate (HSC), General Certificate Examination (GCE) ‘O’ and GCE ‘A’ level will not have to pay for the required exam fees.
The State will cater for the fees of candidates sitting for the examinations for the first time. The exams are scheduled for October and November, as usual.
Candidates eligible for this benefit will need to have 90% presence rate at school for the year preceding the exams and for the year of the exams.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Security will take into consideration any request for the exemption by those candidates having failed the exams; those who parents already receive social aid will be given special attention.
