Tropical cyclone Fantala remains a potential threat to islands in our vicinity; it might change course on Wednesday, April 20.
Fantala has intensified furthered since last night, say experts from the meteorological station of Vacoas.
While the strong wind warning has been lifted for Mauritius, Rodrigues, and Agalega, the tropical cyclone is not deemed to be completely harmless. It might proceed in a south-west direction on Wednesday, April 20.
Thankfully, it is not a threat to Mauritius for the coming days.
On the other hand, oceanographer Vassen Kauppaymuthoo says that it might still constitute a potential menace to us. He points out on a Facebook post that Fantala has remained a powerful cyclone for a long period of time such that it will still be a threat to us this week.
