A man made a macabre discovery at Eau-Bouillie, near Nouvelle-Decouverte, in the week-end: he saw the corpse of a woman set on fire near his vegetable garden.
The corpse on fire was discovered yesterday, Sunday, May 22, when the man behind the finding had noticed smoke coming from a land situated near to his garden, reports DefiMedia.info. He had then informed the police of what he had found. The police, officers from the Major Crime Investigation Team, and the Dog Section of the police arrived at the scene of crime shortly after.
The man told the police that when he went to the place of origin of the smoke, he saw a white van leaving the area in a hurry. It was not yet ascertained whether this vehicle was linked with the crime.
At that time, the identity of the woman was still unknown.
Following investigations conducted by the police and other experts, the corpse was found to have belonged to 28-year-old Vidhi Bumma. Her husband had then been arrested – he attested having strangled her before burning her body.
According to him, the victim had left the house. However, his version is challenged by the victim’s sister, who says that the latter was subjected to domestic violence, but that she had not decided to leave home. On the other hand, reports from the husband’s family mention something else altogether: that the man loved his wife, and had a good conduct and behaviour.
