EgyptAir flight MS804 has crashed in the Mediterranean Sea, says Airbus.
The aircraft lost radar contact after it left Charles de Gaulle airport, on its way to Cairo – this happened around three-and-a-half hours after taking off. Search teams were despatched to find it, and now it has been confirmed that it crashed into the sea.
66 people were onboard, including a child and two babies.
Families of the passengers and crew have gathered at the Cairo International Airport, and Charles de Gaulle.
The aircraft recently flew to Tunisia, Eritrea, Belgium, Egypt, and Lebanon; it had accomplished around 48,000 flight hours. It was delivered to EgyptAir back in November 2003, says Airbus.
