A submarine optical fibre connecting Mauritius to the world of the Internet has been intentionally severed at Monaco, in the south of France, says Emtel.
The act of vandalism is said to have occurred on Sunday night, extending to the early hours of Monday May 30, according to Emtel. This would explain why Internet users, clients of Emtel’s, faced a number of connectivity problems yesterday, May 30, and today. Mostly, this involves those subscribed to mobile data and Airbox service.
The situation is expected to be brought back to normal tonight, May 31.
