A Frenchman was rescued at high sea, off the coast of Rodrigues, by the National Coast Guard (NCG), yesterday, May 23.
Luc Pierre Bernard from France had left Rodrigues on his sailboat on Friday afternoon, May 20. However, water started accumulating in his sailboat on Monday morning, at around 1:00 a.m. He had then used his lifeboat, and he also launched a distress signal. This was spotted by a cargo ship, the True Patriot.
The ship informed the NCG which requested it to rescue the man.
Luc Pierre Bernard finally returned to Rodrigues today morning. He is safe and sound.
