The Mauritius Duty Free Paradise Ltd (MDFP) plans to become more competitive by decreasing the prices of alcoholic drinks, perfumes, and chocolate.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the MDFP, Rakesh Rughoobeer, has announced that prices of certain products (from chocolate to alcoholic drinks to perfumes) will be lowered by around 10 to 15%. The aim behind this decision is to compete with other shops of the Indian Ocean, and those of Dubai.
Rakesh Rughoobeer says in a statement to l’Express.mu that they are currently discussing with their suppliers to review the prices of several products. But, he does add that this will ultimately depend on the suppliers themselves.
Another new aspect will be the introduction of other products, like electronic devices. They wish to bring in more variety in the shops. Interactions with other suppliers are underway, now that the only supplier of the MDFP, Dufry, is gone.
Furthermore, loyalty cards will be issued for clients to have more price reductions.
