Millions of Gmail, Microsoft, and Yahoo email accounts are being shared online by Russian hacker calling himself “The Collector”, says Hold Security which claims to have found the breach when some of its researchers found the hacker on an online forum.
These accounts are allegedly stolen from Mail.ru users, which is a common email service in Russia. Credentials from other services might have been included too.
Around 57 million of credentials were from Mail.ru, 40 million came from Yahoo Mail, another 30 million from Microsoft Hotmail, and yet another 24 million from Gmail. Google has not yet commented on the issue, but informed its users that they should confirm a recovery phone number for their accounts.
